Recap Ski Trip 2024
It's getting into a habit, isn't it? New year, new PWDR Days, same principles: loads of skiing and loads of fun. This year, 50 of us came together on the brink of the French and Swiss Alps, sharing laughs, slopes, and unforgettable memories in our cosy chalet. As with every year, the adventure started with a bunch of strangers and ended with friendships that felt like they'd been there forever. And damn, did we make the most of it!
From the moment we stepped into the chalet, the energy was electric. In the first few days, we kicked things off with an insane après-ski party featuring one of the best DJs we’ve ever had. Every time we tried to leave, someone said, “Just one more song!” and suddenly, hours had passed, and we were still dancing in our ski boots. No one wanted to call it a night, not when the music was that good.
During the days, the mountains were ours. Early morning gondolas, carving fresh powder, and adrenaline-filled descents down some of the most epic runs the Alps had to offer. And then, of course, there were the other kinds of adventures for those who wanted to mix it up. A group went out hiking to a waterfall, where a few brave souls even went for a swim in the icy waters. And let’s not forget about the stargazing, quiet moments in nature, and of course, yoga sessions that helped balance all the thrill with some much-needed calm.
Evenings back at the chalet were just as lively. We had a blast every night, but a couple of events definitely stood out. Karaoke night? A banger. People who claimed they couldn’t sing suddenly transformed into rock stars, belting out tunes that had everyone cheering. And then there was our dance night: An interesting lesson where we learned some moves that were equal parts hilarious and impressive. Who knew we had so many dancers in the group?
And as always, the kitchen became more than just a place to cook — it turned into the heartbeat of the house. Every night, while we whipped up meals for the group, the music cranked up, turning dinner prep into full-blown kitchen raves. There’s something about chopping veggies while raving to house beats that just hits differently. The whole experience was a wild mix of energy, laughter, and the most random conversations. “What’s your favorite food and why is it curry?” Reece asked at one point. :^D
Of course, we couldn’t end the recap without a nod to our final day — the bittersweet moment when we had to give the chalet back to its owners. Someone asked, “So, are we gonna do it the German way and tell them everything we broke?” The answer? “Everything… except the vegetable grater.”
It’s hard to sum up a week like this, but maybe the best way to describe it is this: total freedom. Each year gets better, and this one was no different. We’re already counting down the days for the upcoming one.
