Recap Polaroid

How it started

Sometime in November 2021, two people who met two months before on a yes fam meetup thought about the crazy idea of organizing a big ski trip. That is the short form for the first-ever ski trip to take place! It was hosted in a small cabin in Switzerland, in Saas-Fee. 55 random people out of 17 countries from three different continents met and had a blast of a week. Full of amazing time on the slopes, including an undie run, and also a remarkable time in the cabin! Loads of partying, board games, and werewolf. We arrived as 55 strangers and left as 55 friends.

This was the short version of a week-long trip we had in March 2021. The second time was a bit different. Planning was smoother, and the experience from the previous year helped because this was not the first time we had a ski trip. It was the second. We somewhat knew what was coming and trusted the organizers. Numerous people from the year before joined, as well as many new people.

Minions, Bananas and Underwear ?!

What have minions, bananaaas, underwear, and proposals in common? You can potentially see all of that and so much more during one of the themed runs. On one day of the week, the whole group meets on the slope, and we'll all go down together. Literally. How do we get those ideas? The group comes up with them! The vibe and hype before the trip are one of a kind. Do you have an idea for one of those runs? Make sure to sign up and join the trip!

FAQ

General Information

What are the dates and location of the ski trip? The ski trip will take place from March 8th to February 15th, 2025, in Griments, Switzerland.
How do I register for the ski trip? The first thing you do is sign up using the sign-up form. You can find the link at the beginning of this site. After you have filled out the form and received a confirmation email with a copy of the form, you transfer the deposit to the bank account mentioned in the form. You can also find the bank details here: PWDR DAYS 2025 After we receive the payment, you will get a confirmation, and you will be added to a WhatsApp group for the trip.
Why do I have to pay a deposit? The deposit is to make sure that you are genuinely interested in the trip. With the deposit, we make sure that you come, and you are certain that you have a place.
What is the cost of the ski trip, and what does it cover? The price depends on what type of ski pass you book. The maximum price is ~ 625€, and it includes the accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunch bags, dinner, snacks), and, if desired, a ski pass (duration depending on booking).

You can find more information about the pricing here: Pricing

Is there a deadline for registration and payment? The only deadline we have is dictated by the availability of spots. If all 32 spots are gone, you can't sign up anymore. But don't worry: After those spots are taken, there will be a waiting list. In case someone drops out, you will have a chance to join the trip spontaneously.

The deadline for the payment is January 03, 2024.

Who can I contact for more information or help? You can either join the general WhatsApp group and ask the questions there, or contact one of the organizers. The contact information of the organizers can be found here: Organizers

On-site duties

Will there be duties for everyone that need to be done? Yes. We will provide a cooking plan, so everyone gets to cook with a fun group. You will only be cooking one day in the week. We will also prepare cleaning groups. You will only be cleaning one day in the week. Cooking and cleaning will not be on the same day.
What are the cooking group duties? The cooking groups will meet between 5pm and 6pm. The cooking will commence with loud music and good vibes. The cooking group gets to also eat and then the cooking group will also be responsible for kitchen and dish cleanup. A dishwasher will be on-site.
What are the cleaning group duties? Cleaning groups will be responsible for small cleanup work. Cleaning groups should make sure, that the acco looks good. Is there any floors that need mopping? Anything that can be vacuumed? Any public toilets/showers need cleaning? Any things lying around that can be tidied up?
How should we be organized? The cleaning groups will all be provided with a group leader. Someone we may already know or just think is trustworthy. They will create a dedicated group so you can organize the duties with each other. The cooking groups will have Anna-Lena as group leader. She will be providing the information needed for cooking on site.

Travel & Accommodation

What are the travel arrangements to and from the accommodation? We don't arrange the travel to the accommodation. This is something you have to plan on your own. But we will plan shared rides in case people come by car. You can find more information about traveling to the accommodation here: Travel Information
What type of accommodation will be provided? We will stay in a group chalet and have the whole chalet to ourselves. Here you can find more details about the accommodation and pictures: Accommodation
What are the accommodation arrangements? You can find the room layout here: Room Layout We do not set a room allocation here but run on the principle of “first come, first served”. If you have any wishes regarding the room allocation, please let us know on the registration form, and we will take them into account as much as possible.
Are meals included in the trip cost? Yes. We will provide breakfast, the opportunity to make a lunch bag, and dinner. The meals will be prepared with your help. Each day another group will cook for the trip, and trust us, this is super fun. Please note that we do not provide lunch because most of the people are on the slopes during the day, but the kitchen is always open. You can prepare your own food IF you clean up the kitchen afterward. (The ingredients also have to be brought by you.)

Skiing & Activities

What skiing activities are planned? We don't have a schedule or a real plan. You can leave the house whenever you want, come back whenever you want, and go skiing with whoever you want to. Typically, the groups that fit together on the slopes will find themselves during the first two days. The only plan that we have is our yearly undie run. This means we will all meet on the slopes and go down the slopes only in underwear or as little clothing as you feel comfortable with.
Are ski equipment and ski passes included in the cost? Ski passes are included in the price if you book one. We have options to buy a 6-day, 5-day, or 4-day pass. Please remember that a lift pass is valid only on consecutive days. Ski rental is not included, and you have to pay extra for it. But there will be a discounted price for your rental. More information about the ski pass prices and ski rental prices can be found here: Pricing
Are there any non-skiing activities planned? Yes, but we can't tell you what exactly because these activities are planned and provided by you. So if you want to do an activity like give dance lessons, organize a pub quiz, or go stargazing, feel free to plan it and let us know. We can give you a day when your activity will be in the evening.

Safety & Emergency

What safety measures are in place during the ski trip? We have confidants on-site that you can always contact about any incident, problem, or concern you have. We will figure out a solution with you on how we and you want to handle certain situations. But we do not tolerate sexism, discrimination, or violence, verbal or non-verbal. If you are found to be consistently disruptive or multiple complaints have been received about your behavior, action will be taken by the organizers. If you would like to find out more about our rules and the code of conduct, click here: Code of Conduct
Is there medical assistance available on site? All our organizers have passed a first-aid class, and we have first-aid kits on-site.
What should I do in case of an emergency? If it is a serious emergency, please call the local emergency service at 112. In addition, please inform the organizers about the incident, so we know about it and can coordinate accordingly.
Do I need to have insurance for this trip? We do not provide insurance for this trip, so you should check if your insurance also covers skiing incidents in foreign countries. We highly recommend having insurance.

Payment

How long do I have to transfer the money? Your registration is only valid when we receive your payment. But since international payments are sometimes a bit slow, we will look at how far apart the registration and transfer are and assign the last place based on this data. So don't panic if you transfer the deposit the day after the registration. Your place is safe.
What's the cancellation policy? With the receipt of your deposit, your place is confirmed. In the case of non-participation, we cannot refund you at first. The moment we find a replacement for you, we will transfer your total amount back to you. The earlier we know, the easier it is for us to find a replacement. So far, everyone who has canceled has gotten their money back.
What are the "Organizational Costs? "Organizational Costs" are the costs that we organizers have to make this trip happen. This includes:
  • cost of the bank account
  • cost of the server + domains
  • cost for additional stuff that is needed for the trip (Party accessories)
  • the cost of the accommodation, food for the organizers.
  • a small extra amount as security

As you can imagine, this trip involves a lot of planning and also investing our own money beforehand. For example, we have to pay ~1.500€ in advance to book the accommodation and are also fully responsible for everything that happens on the trip. Therefore, we decided to split the costs of the organizers among everyone. This is the current process, and we are currently meditating about how we can handle this in the future.

How are the surplus funds from the trip being handled? Since we always include a small percentage extra in each cost item, we will have a little money left over at the end of the trip. For this, we give every participant the possibility to get the money back or to donate it to a charity organization in the region of the ski trip.
Where were the donations from previous trips directed? We have decided to support organizations in the regions where we ski. Thus, we always check which organizations are in the area and choose from them a project that gets our support.
  • In 2022, we donated 900 € to “Team Ukraine Love”.
  • In 2023, we donated 550 € to “Baumwaldprojekt”.
  • In 2024, we donated 850 € to "Baumwaldprojekt".
Where can I find the Bank Details? You can find the bank details either in the form that you filled out or in your emails. There should be a copy of your form in your mailbox (please also check your spam folder), or you can go to the information page about this year's ski trip. Click here

What should I pack for the trip? You can find a packing list that gives you some hints here: Packing List

Will photographs be taken during the trip, and where can I find them? Yes, we have a media team on site that will take pictures. But a lot of our participants will also take photos. We will provide a cloud after the trip where the media team and you can upload and download the photos.
